A Palmetto teen was arrested on a felony charge Wednesday after sheriff’s officials said he pointed a green laser at a Manatee County Sheriff’s Office helicopter. The Manatee County Aviation Unit was on air patrol when a green laser was repeatedly flashed at the pilot and helicopter at 7:40 p.m., the sheriff’s office said Friday in a news release. The pilot contacted the Palmetto Police Department and reported the laser pointing, which is a federal crime.
