The Spokane County, Washington Sheriff’s Office hopes to realize over $1 million via the sale of their more than 50 year old UH-1H Huey search and rescue helicopter through its sale on Govdeals.com.
The agency is looking to modernize its fleet with the purchase of a new Bell 505 helicopter in the future after the sale of the agency’s UH-1H is complete on Wednesday, financing the remainder of the aircraft through grant funding.
“Being able to respond to missing people, manage pursuits, suspect apprehension – to be able to have that more modern aircraft with modern technology is going to allow us to do our jobs better,” Chief Ellis said in an interview with KREM News
Once the UH-1 is sold, the agency expects to take delivery of the new 505 within a year.
