The Tulsa, Oklahoma Police Department showcased its newest asset this week: an Airbus Helicopters AS-350B3, the aviation unit’s newest tool for assisting ground units.
The aircraft will add a second asset to the agency’s air unit, joining another A-Star for a fleet of two aircraft to service the city.
The new helicopter includes an updated camera and night sun, in addition to the most up-to-date avionics found in Airbus’s newest police aircraft. The new helicopter has been in the process of purchase and delivery since 2020 before being delivered from the Airbus facility in Louisiana last week.
“That’s why you see such an outstanding bird, that the City of Tulsa saw that we needed, and they stepped up and bought it,” TPD Deputy Chief Dennis Larsen said in an interview given to 2News Oklahoma.
