The Queensland Police Service (QPS) Aviation Capability Group (ACG) provides frontline aeromedical, search and rescue, law enforcement, and government aviation capabilities for the state of Queensland. ACG has responsibility for QGAir and Police Air Operations.

QGAir’s Rotary Wing operates a fleet of five AW139 Leonardo Helicopters based in Archerfield, Cairns, and Townsville. The fleet is responsible for over 3,000 flight hours per annum and an average of 2,000 patient rescues/transfers per annum. QGAir was the first Emergency Medical Services (EMS) AW139 operator in Australia and currently operates the highest-time AW139 conducting EMS operations in the world.

On 21 December 2023, QGAir soared beyond expectations, becoming the first operator in Australia of the AW139 Emergency Medical Service (EMS) Helicopter to surpass an impressive 30,000 flight hours. QPS ACG also operates several police aircraft throughout the state that includes rotary and fixed wing assets for police patrol duties and transportation throughout the state.
